A PRAYER FOR NIGERIA @ 52

Fifty two years ago, our nationalist fighters in whose symbolic shadows we stand today, signed and moved for the attainment of our independence from the British government. This momentous decree indeed came as a beacon of hope to the millions of Nigerians who before noe have been seared in the flames of withering injustice. The occasion of our independence on that 1st day of october, 1960 therfore came as a joyous day break to end the many of our nation being under the colony of the english man. It was indeed a funfilled experience as we got the mandate to officially run the affairs of our nation by our own hands.
But 52 years after, the average Nigerian man is still not happy, 52 years after, the life of the average Nigerian is still sadly crippled by the manacles of poverty, hunger, lack of adequate infrastructures, little or no good roads on which he could travel buy, terrorism that has reached it height and must i continue to list them? I guess the object of this piece wont be done if i continue. It is obvious today that our leaders over these years have failed us to a great extent, they have chosen to run dry the coffers of our nation, they have left us at that corner where going forth is not easy and returning back, a great difficulty. Our leaders all these years have given us a dud cheque in leadership which has returned marked ‘insufficient funds’. But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice and hope for a better Nigeria of our dreams is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there is insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of Africa’ largest nation, and so on this note i urge us all to keep up the fight and the hope towards a better and happier Nigeria! Now is the time for us all irrespective of our creed and tribal differences to lift this only nation of ours from the quicksands of racial injustice, terrorism, corruption, hatred, underdevelopment, insecurity etc, to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make this nation of ours a reality for all God’s children.
It will not only be fatal but also unwise for us all not to observe the urgency of this moment. This sweltering summer of our underdevelopment will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of committment from us all whether as citizens or government officials. 52 years is not an end but i want to believe is a beginning. And all those who hope that this nation boils forever will have a rude awakening if Nigeria returns to business as usual. And there will neither be rest or tranquility in Nigeria until we play in line with the pledge of our National Anthem. It is a fact that this nation has achieved little or nothing all these years but has also achieved a lot. We have fought a civil war that almost threatened our unity in diversity, we have been through a lot of national trauma but we have collectively defied them all and our unity not in any way jeopardized! This ofcourse is one of our greatest achievement but as individuals and as government representatives.
It is fact that terrorism have put us againt each other, Nigerians cannot go about their normal activities without carrying their hearts in their hands, human lives have been lost on a daily basis as though life has got a replacement, the peaceful co-existence we enjoyed before now have been sequestered from amongst us but i say to us all- let it pass. Someday and very soon we shall celebrate the end of it all and how about we forget the all important question to this effect…. How many more souls shall die before this better tommorow comes? An answer best known to God. An so even though we face difficulties today and tommorow, i still have a dream. It is a dream rooted in the Nigerian spirit. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live to its full potentials as africa’s largest nation. I have a dream that oneday the north eastern states and other parts of this great devide sweltering with the heat of terrorism, will be transformed into an oasis of peace and freedom. I have a dream that our generation will be the water shed of development in this nation of ours. I have this dream and believe that one day every valley shall be exalted and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places of this nations affairs will be made plain and the crooked places will be made straight; and the glory of God shall be revealed and we shall see it together. This is my believe and my dream, per chance i may not live to see this new and better Nigeria to be born, but for its attainment i go to work today. May we desist from the poor habit of abusing and betraying our alliegence to this nation or its leaders. It is a noble truth that they have wronged us all in all manners but must we continue this way? Let us start proferring solutions and not playing the blame card.
Thus at this juncture, let us all go down in prayer and intercede on behalf of our great nation and her leaders, as we celebrate let us also mourn for alot have happened to us but we are more than conquerous. 52 years cannot be forever, i can see a light at the end of this long tunnel, this journey towards a better Nigeria may still be far from getting over but someday we shall if not us being on that ship when it gets to harbour, our children surely will and our legacies they will never forget. May we on this occasion of our anniversary, pledge to Nigeria the only country we can truely call ours, to be faithful loyal and honest, to serve this Nation Nigeria with all our strenght, to be faithful, loyal and honest and to serve her with all our strneght and may God help us as we do. Nigeria go beta. All of us at informationnigeria wish all our readers a robust independence anniversary.
